ik kreeg gisteren een mail van

Met betrekking tot mijn domein "Gratis**Paypal.com"

Ik moest van hun mijn site verwijderen en de domein laten vervallen.

De Mail:

The coined term PayPal is one of the most famous trademarks on the Internet and in the world and our company owns the exclusive trademark rights to the PayPal name in the United States and internationally, including related common law rights.

We remain highly concerned and disappointed by the fact that despite our good faith effort to advise you of our rights and seek to amicably resolve this situation, you have simply ignored our effort and continued your problematic activities relating to the gratispaypal.com domain name. Any inappropriate and unapproved use of gratispaypal.com would violate the Lanham Act (15 U.S.C. 1051 et seq.) because it infringes and dilutes the famous PayPal trademark. Should you choose to operate an infringing site with full knowledge of our rights, you would be considered a willful infringer and, as such, could be liable for greater damages.

PayPal takes the infringement of its brands very seriously and takes aggressive steps to protect its brands and, more importantly, guard consumers that will be damaged as a result of the confusion caused by infringement of our brands. While we would still prefer to resolve this matter amicably, if you continue to ignore our attempts to resolve this matter promptly, we will have no choice but to take whatever action we deem necessary to protect our rights. For these reasons, and to avoid consumer confusion, PayPal must insist that you do not use gratispaypal.com for any reason. You should not sell, offer to sell, or transfer the domain name to a third party and should let the domain registration expire.

Please confirm in writing that you will agree to take the necessary steps to resolve this matter amicably. If we do not receive confirmation from you that you will comply with our request, we will have no choice but to consider escalating this further to protect our rights.

Is dit een flauwe grap? of is dit serieus?

Meestal kan je het wel zien aan de inhoud van het mailtje.. enkel aan de afzender kan ik het niet weten, mail adres komt me in iedergeval niet bekend voor. Misschien kan je meer informatie via PM versturen?

Je domeinnaam bevat het handelsmerk paypal, ik veronderstel dat dit dus geen grap is.

Het domeinnaam linkt door naar een pagina van eBay waarin het volgende vermeld staat:

Hier zijn al zo vaak topics over geweest, doe even de zoekfunctie gebruiken en je leest er alles over.

Gewoon afwachten tot je een aangetekende brief thuis krijgt en dan pas actie ondernemen.

Inderdaad, zo zou ik het ook doen en dan nog konden ze me de p*t op. Hadden ze het domein zelf maar moeten registreren. Zal toch lekker worden als ik vanaf nu elk domeinnaam met "banner" of "webdesign" in de naam zal sommeren om te stoppen.

Check de headers van het mailtje eens en controleer of het daadwerkelijk vanaf de servers van ''ebayenforcement.com'' is verstuurd.

EUHMM.. Meneer de TopicStarter, ik zou maar doen wat in dat mailtje staat, en haal de website tijdelijk offline, stuur hun daarna gewoon een email dat je de vorige mail ontgaan is.

k denk toch dat je je site offline zult moeten halen.

Ik heb familie bij ebay werken.. wees maar zeker dat dit serieus is. Haal je site maar offline of je krijgt een ganse hoop advokaten over je heen.

Stuur anders ebay een mailtje of het echt waar is, aangezien ze het niet doen met hun officiele handelsnaam.

1 tip, nooit dit soort namen registeren (waarin merknamen voorkomen).

Kun je flink gezeur mee krijgen.
